How I work shifts with the scale of your land and the scope of your goals.

Ecological Consulting

I want to help you strike a well-calibrated balance between supporting nature and the comforts and uses of your home landscape. When I begin work with a new client, I prefer to start with an on-site property consult, so I can gather a comprehensive understanding of the microclimatic conditions and species already present on your land. I prefer for you to be present during the consult, so your aesthetic preferences and intended uses inform my assessment of the property and its potential.

From there, we can discuss what comes next. Depending on your budget, my capacity, and other logistical considerations, I may be able to install and maintain gardens for or alongside you. If it can't be my hands in the soil, I am always able to design gardens and develop a project implementation or management plan to help you progress the work yourself.

Species Inventory

Plants, fungi, wildlife

A big part of ecological landcare is getting to know the other species that call your property home. These are your partners in restoration and ecological vitality, and they can often tell you a lot about the climatic conditions and ecological functions already in place. I can put together a snapshot of the species already present on your property, so you have a clearer understanding of the system you are preparing to engage with, and who else already has a stake in the land. Currently, I have the ability to perform surveys for plant, fungi, and mammal species.

Native Landscape Design and Stewardship Plans

I am prepared to design the ecological landscape of your dreams. I will select native plants appropriate for your site and provide you with a planting plan to ensure your landscape thrives with both beauty and functionality all season long.

For larger or wilder spaces, I can provide stewardship plans that outline the appropriate season for different stewardship actions, the frequency at which they should occur, and ecological indicators of a system shifting out of balance. My goal is to give you the confidence to keep engaging with and tending your landscape for seasons to come.

Garden Install and Landcare

For some projects, I am able to provide installation and ongoing landcare services. As a one-woman business, capacity realism is important to me, but I also recognize there is a lot to learn, and it can be hard to get started. I welcome the opportunity to work alongside you for initial installs and the early-phase adaptations of a new native landscape, so you develop a strong understanding of your own role in the ecological community and feel confident interpreting changes and tending the landscape yourself.

Native Plant Sales

I grow a limited inventory of native plants from seed each year. For cost savings, I am happy to offer these plants at wholesale prices for new installation projects I design. Plants are available for external projects at a slight markup. Please reach out with inquiries.

Stewardship Events

For larger properties with severe invasive species challenges (including municipalities, parks, and grant-funded groups) I offer services to mobilize groups of invested friends and volunteers. If you have a space that needs work and people prepared to help, but lack the ecological expertise to take on the project, I am here to help. I provide the plan, tools, and instruction to put group efforts to effective use, and guide volunteers through the experience safely and well.
